It’s time to break free from your trauma.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD Therapy for Adults in Florida, Texas, and Vermont.

Still Stuck in the Past? You're Not Alone.

Does it feel like your trauma never truly left you?

You’ve tried to push it aside. You stay busy, keep distracted, and avoid the things that bring the memories rushing back.
But the past has a way of sneaking in—when you're tired, stressed, or caught off guard.

Maybe you feel:

  • On edge or emotionally numb

  • Ashamed or guilty about things you “should” be over by now

  • Startled by small things, even when you're safe

  • Disconnected from others—or from yourself

  • Trapped in painful thoughts like “It was my fault” or “I’ll never be okay”

Even if others moved on, something in you hasn’t. And that doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means your nervous system is still protecting you the only way it knows how.

You’re not broken.
You’re not failing.
You’re stuck in a pattern your brain created to survive—and now it's time to update that pattern.

Healing Through Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

Imagine waking up and not being pulled into fear, shame, or the weight of what happened.
Imagine not needing to brace yourself all the time.
Imagine feeling like you again.

CPT is structured, focused, and incredibly empowering.

Each session builds on the last—and between sessions, you’ll complete short daily worksheets that help you practice what you’re learning.
(Think of it like training your brain to think in new ways—small steps that add up to big changes.)

It’s not just talk therapy—it’s an active, do-the-work kind of healing.
You’ll start to see progress as things begin to click into place.

We’ll work together to:

  • Understand how trauma has shaped your thoughts and beliefs

  • Untangle what's true from what trauma taught you to believe

  • Rebuild your sense of safety, control, and trust—within yourself and the world

You’ll walk away with tools you can actually use—and a sense of confidence that you can handle whatever comes next.

It’s time to release what’s been holding you down.
It’s time to move forward—with strength, clarity, and self-compassion.

Ready to feel lighter, clearer, and more in control? Let’s get started.

What is CPT?

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a structured, short-term, evidence-based form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) developed specifically to treat Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related symptoms.

CPT is based on the understanding that trauma can fundamentally disrupt the way we think about ourselves, others, and the world. After a traumatic experience, it’s common for the brain to develop unhelpful or distorted beliefs—such as “I’m to blame,” “I can’t trust anyone,” or “The world is completely unsafe.” These beliefs, called “stuck points,” can fuel ongoing emotional pain, fear, guilt, shame, and avoidance.

CPT works by helping individuals:

  • Identify these stuck points

  • Examine how these beliefs developed in the aftermath of trauma

  • Challenge and reframe unhelpful thoughts using evidence-based strategies

This process allows the brain to “update the story,” restoring a sense of safety, control, and emotional balance.

What to Expect from CPT:

  • Time-limited: Typically completed in 12 weekly sessions

  • Highly structured: Each session has a clear focus and builds on the previous one

  • Active participation: Includes daily out-of-session worksheets to help you apply what you’re learning in real life

  • Goal-oriented: Designed to produce meaningful symptom relief and emotional clarity in a relatively short period

Research consistently shows that CPT is effective in reducing PTSD symptoms and improving overall functioning, often with long-lasting results. It is recommended by leading organizations such as the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as a first-line treatment for PTSD.
